Dutch Island, located in the Chesapeake Bay of Maryland, has been fast deteriorating. The area was originally inhabited by fishermen and farmers, but they have since left. The 1888-built house on the island has struggled to remain standing against the ever-shrinking shoreline for the past century. The previous owner, Stephen White, was unable to master nature, and the mansion and island could not be preserved despite his attempts.
