The Last Dwelling on the Dutch Isle

Dutch Island, Maryland, nestled in Chesapeake Bay, was home to fishermen and farmers. Yet, it is currently a dwindling land mass where no one resides. In 1888, a residence was constructed, but its location was constantly at odds with the eroding coastline. Stephen White, the previous owner, exerted enormous effort in an attempt to preserve the land, but in the end he was unable, and the island, including the house, were utterly destroyed.
