Streaming platforms won multiple wins at the Emmy Awards last night i.e. 19th of September 2021. Netflix had tied the record of a broadcast of forty-four awards that was set by CBS in the year 1994.

‘The Crown’ which is based on the royal family of Britain depicting the 20th century period had won 7awards including the award for the best actress and actor in drama series. ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ also won 2 awards, one of which is for being the best series in a limited version, this particular award category has grown popular in recent days.

‘Ted Lasso’ of Apple TV+ has also made it big on the awards night by winning 4 awards which included the award for best comedy & for the best actor in the comedy category. This win has come right after 2 years of the launch of the platform.

What do you need to know about Emmy Awards, 2021?

Last year, Emmy Awards was celebrated virtually by keeping in mind the pandemic situation. However, this year the Primetime Emmy Awards happened in person like it used to. The event took place on 19th  September 2021 in Los Angeles’ Event Deck at L.A. Live.

‘Ted Lasso’ of Apple TV+ had almost 13  nominations and bagged 4 trophies. ‘The Crown’ had 11nominations and stole the show by bagging 7 wins.

Actor Jason Sadeikis bagged the best actor award in the comedy series category. Jean Smart bagged the best lead actresses award for Hack, the HBO Max series. Ewan McGregor, Kate Winslet, Josh O’ Connor and Olivia Colman also bagged trophies in acting.

Hannah Waddingham bagged a trophy for the category: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on ‘Ted Lasso’ as Rebecca Welton. Brett Goldstein bagged the trophy for the category: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on ‘Tedd Lasso’ as Roy Kent.
