Dwayne Johnson put out the first official trailer for Black Adam on Wednesday. The over two-minute trailer was also posted by Warner Bros. and DC Comics. In it, the actor plays the DC Comics bad guy with the same name. The trailer made it look like the movie was about a dark myth.
Johnson plays the strong anti-hero and sworn enemy of Shazam, who was played by Zachary Levi in the 2019 origin movie and will be played by Mark Strong in the 2020 sequel, “Shazam: Fury of the Gods.” “Black Adam,” which has been in the making for almost ten years, will come out on July 29.
Johnson was supposed to make his DC debut as Black Adam in the 2019 movie “Shazam,” but his part was cut when the character’s own spinoff was approved in 2017.
In October of 2021, Johnson posted a first look at the movie on Twitter. It showed Black Adam breaking free after being locked up for 5,000 years. Johnson said in the October video, “This character, this movie, and this universe have been a huge passion project of mine for a very long time.” “I was born to play Black Adam, that’s the truth.”
In the movie, we’ll also meet members of the Justice Society of America, which is a well-known group like the Justice League. Aldis Hodge plays Hawkman, Noah Centineo plays Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell plays Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan plays Doctor Fate. The bad guys from Intergang, Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, and Uli Latukefu, will all be in the movie.

“When I started reading about Black Adam, I was intrigued by how different he is from other characters,” Collet-Serra says. “Is he brave? Is he a bad guy? Is he a bad guy? He has such a unique story, and I like how he fits in with my style and general view of the world. In a world where not everything is black or white, you need a superhero like him who can work in the grey area and has his own moral code.
Johnson has always liked the character, and he has worked very hard to make Black Adam a movie. Collet-Serra says he was most excited to see Johnson play a complicated, sad, and intense character, rather than the wisecracking con man he played in Jungle Cruise.
